Women of Faith Conference The Women of Faith conference in Portland, October 13 - 14 , 2006, is an excellent opportunity to hear invigorating speakers, listen to uplifting music, and spend quality time with other women from First Pres. Christmas Brunch Hosted by Mary Circle on usually the first Wednesday in December (date to be announced) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., this is a delightful holiday affair with a special program, good food and warm fellowship. All women of the church are invited, and child care will be provided upon request.
Women's Retreat This fun, inspiring weekend is filled with great activities, good food and encouraging fellowship. It is a great way to get to know other women in our church and experience personal spiritual growth. The retreat is usually scheduled for the last weekend of January or first weekend of February (dates to be announced) at the Aldersgate Conference Center in Turner. Bring a snack to share and personal items for a weekend stay.
Spring Banquet This festive dinner affair wraps up the year with an inspiring program. Come and just enjoy an evening of fellowship -- this is a great event to invite your friends from the community. The banquet will be held on May 3, 2006 at 6 p.m. in the Social Hall. Speaker and price to be announced.
Rummage Sale Our annual fund-raiser turns your gently-used treasures into someone else's terrific bargain, and is a great community event. This year’s rummage collection begins May 1st!
Sale Days: Friday, June 16, 2006 (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.), Saturday, June 17, 2006 (9 a.m. - 12 noon).
Sorting Days: Sundays only following the last worship service, May 7 – June 11.
Pricing/Work days: Mondays only, 9 a.m., May 8 – June 12.

Ongoing Ministries
All-Church Prayer Chain Can you take a prayer request by phone, lift up the request in prayer, then pass it along to the next person on the chain? This is a fantastic way to turn just a few minutes of your time into a tremendous blessing for someone in need! To sign up, please call Pam Morris at 503-363-1098, or sign up with the church office by phone or email.
Sewing Circle This group of women produces hundreds of clothing articles and blankets for local and overseas mission organizations. Meet every Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the sewing room of the church.
Working Women's Group This group meets every other Monday at 6:30 pm to share in a bible study and support. It is an oasis from the chaos of life! Contact Karen Pollan for info at 503-363-9234 or karenpollan@salemfirstpres.org.
Out-to-Lunch Bunch This monthly potluck salad luncheon is especially geared for moms of young children, newborn through middle school. It meets the third Thursday of each month from 12 noon to 1 p.m. during the school year (and sometimes through the summer!).
The First Perk Espresso Cart Learn to be a barista! You will be trained in making lattes and other drinks. This is a great way to meet people and enjoy some warm fellowship, as well as raising money for church events. |

Small Group Bible Study
Pastor's Bible Study: Join the pastors each Tuesday at 12 noon for this study of the scripture passage used for the next Sunday's sermon. Bring your lunch; coffee and tea are provided.
Wednesday Noon Women’s Bible Study meets each Wednesday at the church from 12 – 1 p.m.
Thursday Evening Women’s Bible Study meets Thursday evenings from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the church.
Friday Morning Women’s Bible Study meets at McGrath's Restaurant (350 Chemeketa St NE), downtown Salem, 6:45 a.m.
Presbyterian Women's Circles
Presbyterian women's circles are open to all women and are guided by the following statement:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
To nurture faith through prayer and Bible study,
To support the mission of the church worldwide,
To work for justice and peace, and
To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's Kingdom.
In general, Circles support mission work with financial and material donations as well as donations of time, study the Bible together, and help women feel connected with the larger denominational structure.
Miriam Circle meets the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Mary Circle meets the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Pioneer Room. Child care is available upon request.
Martha Circle meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Pioneer Room. |
